General Questions
- Why build the Pidcock Family website?
The Pidcock surname is certainly unique and one might think that there are only a few people with this last name. Actually, there are thousands of Pidcocks, with many paternal lines, living all over the world.
My name is Paul M. Pidcock, living in Canada, and this website contains some of my life history!
Our objective is to build a well sourced website tree with as many Pidcocks and their associated families and branches as possible. Some of the larger branches include Fraser, Sorby, Brodie, Henzey, Armstrong, Hissey, and Brettell surnames. If you know of individuals that we have missed or if our information needs correction, please email us!
We also accept and display images of Pidcock's and their families, however all information on living people is private. All sources and research text, documents and images are also private and can only be viewed by authenticated family members.
- What Pidcock Family Ancestoral line does the website cover?
This website concentrates on the male line of Pidcock's starting from William Pidcock of Bakewell who died in 1630 and married Margaret Pidcock. He is the earliest traceable male of our branch! In the year William died, Margaret gave birth to a son, also named William, who continued this branch of the Pidcock tree! However, the ultimate goal is to connect as many other branches into our paternal line. At present, we have listed over 4,700 individuals, with more than 450 with the Pidcock surname.
Here is a link to my father, Charles Pidcock.
- I'm a Pidcock or related to one. How can I find out if my ancestors came from this line?
We are not professional genealogists but we can offer some advice! Look back at your own family tree and try to match Pidcock's and their dates of birth and/or death using the Database Surname List for Pidcock.
- How can I get more information about Pidcocks in your tree?
-
Subscribe to a free email newsletter here. This is a double opt-in mailing list.
With a (single) opt-in process, an address is automatically added to the relevant email distribution list as soon as it's submitted, for example through a sign-up form at a website. With double opt-in, the submitted address is not immediately added to this list. Instead, an email is first sent to the address, requesting confirmation that this address should indeed be added to the list.
If the recipient of the confirmation request does nothing, then the submitted address is rejected. The address is only added to the distribution list if the recipient responds to the confirmation email.
All email addresses collected are not for sale! Subscribers will receive only the Pidcock Newsletter.
- How can I contact anapid.com's webmaster?
Check to see if "Click For Live Help" icon appears on the top right of this page or click to leave a message. You could also email the Webmaster here.
- What software are used for the discussion forums?
Simple Machines Forum is a great piece of free software and I highly recommend it. If you need any help using this board, click here.
- What software is used for the Image Gallery?
Coppermine is a very good website image software. Look for the link to Register and once you have a user name and password, the login is easy. The FAQ's are there if you need an overview.
CoppermineFetch is a great modification to Coppermine which allows for, among other features, images to be displayed outside of the gallery. Once you learn the basics of php, how to include them into html pages through, say SSI, and cpmfetch's various atrtributes, the world is your oyster!
Most of the pictures on this website are reserved for the Pidcock clan and can not be viewed. If you are friends of the Pidcock's, please contact the webmaster for permission to have unrestricted access to anapid.com's vast library of images.
- What software runs the Pidcock's Family Tree Database?

PhpGedView has full editing capabilities, full privacy functions, can import from GEDCOM files, and supports multimedia like photos and document images.
